Lost...

Sometimes someone comes into your life that changes the way you think, the way you feel, the way you look at the world. Suddenly life has direction and purpose.
When that person is gone, you are left without a compass. You are in uncharted territory, and have to find your own way home.
Sometimes it can lead to wonderful new discoveries, other times just deeper into the unknown. Lost.
In the darkness without a guide is usually where we discover the most about ourselves. I’m often asked why I don’t do much art when I am happy or even content. My reply – I don’t need too.
So now I’m left to create.

Other than being a basically melancholy and unsocial person what have I been up too?
I just finished my first short story for a new comic/prose magazine. I’ve only written plays and screenplays before so this was a really cool endeavor. Its a zombie story (which I think are a little over done at the moment- but hey not everyone wants their undead to “sparkle”;)
And I’m directing HighSchool Musical- how surreal is my life?

Okay, so I haven't updated my journal in a long while.

Lately life has been so busy. So this is the longest I've gone without updating.
I finally bought a new laptop.. switched to Mac because i was tired of buying a
new P.C. every two years. I do have a few new pieces of work, that I will post to
D.A. as soon as I can get them onto the new computer.

Amazing Summer!! Saw several movies at The Drive-In ("Dark Knight" and "Wall-E" each three times."Hellboy 2" and "The Fall" were also great) Even made it to the beach once a week.

But when the Summer ended I had some of the hardest good-byes I've ever had in my life. I sent two of my closest friends home to Germany. (followed shortly by more friends leaving for Sweden, Finland, Austria)

For me life has always had its chapters, and constantly changes. Each year, or even each season seems to bring a new project, new friends, new life. Its hard but rewarding. I've gotten to spend time with some of the most amazing people from some wonderful places -who've helped make me a little less antisocial. And sometime VERY soon, I'm going to have the most awesome European Vacation.

TIME MOVES WAY TOO FAST!!!

  • Mood: Love
  • Listening to: The Cure - paris.
  • Reading: How To Speak German.
  • Watching: Cloverfield
  • Eating: Hummus
So time moves to fast. I totally missed my March update.

Lots of exciting things happened. First…A Daily Deviation for “The Vampire” . How very cool, it was a wonderful blast of self confidence for someone who mainly keeps his Artwork pretty well hidden away under the bed. I wanted to thank everyone personally who commented, faved, and friended me but I didn’t quite succeed. So hello, thanks, and its really nice to meet you to all my new friends. Please feel free to say hi now that I’m not as overwhelmed. Thanks to We Are Minion for the journal feature too.

As a theater director I have four shows coming up over the next month and a half, and that is keeping me pretty busy. Hopefully I’ll have time to get a new piece (or an old one) posted over the next week or so.

OH I’m going to see Death Cab For Cutie with the Dresden Dolls in a couple of weeks, that should be pretty great.

Music - The new Portishead album is coming out soon, and if you haven’t heard it somewhere online, its pretty damn awesome.

Movies- Just saw “The Ruins” nobody told me it was a killer plant movie. it’s a killer plant movie…now you can make your own decision whether you should see it or not.

T.V.- LOST…Last nights episode was absolutely BRILLIANT. I barely breathed through the entire episode.

February, Vampires, and LOST.

  • Watching: The Daily Show
  • Eating: Sushi.
Well February is almost over, and its about time that I updated my journal.
Life is good. Busy, very busy, but thats the way I like it.
I'm working on a theater piece at the moment with a group of really talented Highschool kids called "The Vampire Cat" They will compete against other schools this weekend. Twelve hours of theater- its a really long day. Competitive art isn't my thing..but they make lots of friends and get to experience lots of differant types of theatre. I have three other shows going on at the moment so I'm back to searching for free time.

LOST is probably the greatest show on television ever.

hmm here's some of my favorite runner ups...

American Gothic -short lived but brilliantly creepy.
Carnivale- short lived but also brilliantly creepy.
Arrested Development- short lived but freakin funny.
Dexter..still going but I'm waiting for season two on DVD

Show's I like don't seem to last long on T.V. I'm glad Lost has stuck around for a while!!! For those who don't watch - get the 1st season on DVD. Its so good.

I hope to figure out this CSS thing, and fancy up my journal. I hope to start featuring some of the artists I like as my friends have done for me.

Thanks for all the kind comments on my last picture "The Vampire".

HOORAY!!

Tue Jan 29, 2008, 5:45 PM
  • Mood: Joy
  • Listening to: Peter Murphy
  • Reading: Dexter
  • Watching: The Simpsons
  • Eating: Crab Rangoon
Hooray - I now have a DeviantArt Subscription!! Thanks to a very sweet and generous friend. (A thousand thank you's)
Its been a year since I posted my first work here, and I've said this many times but I've really enjoyed using DA- As artists its rare for us to find people of like mind that share similar experiences. I really do appreciate the friendship, artistic confidence and inspiration so many of my DA friends give me. Thank You All!!!

I've done more work since I began here, than in the years before. I'm excited to try out all the features that I haven't had before.

and since I love talking music and movies-

New Music I've recently purchased

Dust- Peter Murphy (from Bahaus) - this is the album that so fits the mood I've been in.

Cat Power- Jukebox - I like her earlier sparser stuff better but this album is really good.

Tom Waits - BigTime - One of my favorite cassettes I finally updated to CD.

WHO'S Seen "CLOVERFIELD"? This movie is REALLY good. Other than some people getting nauseous in the audience because of the constant shaky camera work.

SWEENEY TODD- It was good, (some darn good gore) although it seemed to lack a little of the humor and quirkiness that's in the original musical, and I would have expected in a Tim Burton film.

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN- I usually don't like slow moving movies, but I really liked this. I think it may be a little overrated but that guy who played the killer deserves every award he gets.

AND FINALLY - as I post this TWO DAYS UNTIL LOST returns. Damn I love that show...anyone else going to be watching?
